Leading South West financial planning company welcomes new expert to team

Anyone thinking about, or on the cusp of, retiring will be given ‘permission’ to enjoy their life and their savings in later years by Goodmans’ new senior financial planner, Jenny Ives, who has recently joined the team to specialise in ‘later life’ advice.

Jenny, a firm advocate of making sure that your retirement years really are your golden years, will also work closely with her clients’ trustees and attorneys on the management of wealth, and feels that given the county’s ageing demographic, she can make a really positive difference to people looking to plan their retirement future.

She adds, “Many people think that the role of the financial planner is all about finding the right investment opportunities, but it’s really about coaching our clients on how to have the best retirement possible and just when that could be.

“My role is to help my clients to voice their fears and concerns about their later years and bring some clarity to their situation. As outside observers, it’s much easier for us at Goodmans to be objective, so that we can put an action plan in place that mitigates risks and accentuates the positives for our clients, giving them peace of mind and a licence to enjoy retirement. For me, it’s all about liberating your later years!”

With over a decade of expertise in the financial services sector, Jenny is qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner as well as being a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. She brings with her a network of strong relationships built up with solicitors across Devon, essential for achieving the best outcomes in inheritance and estate planning, a key element in her specialism of long-term care planning.

Originally from South Africa, Jenny and her family have settled in Devon and consider the area, especially Dartmoor, as a ‘home from home’, and she enjoys the great opportunities for walking and cycling on her doorstep.

“I never quite understood the saying, ‘Make hay while the sun shines’ but coming from the permanent blue skies of South Africa to the ever-changeable weather of Devon, I really do,” she adds. “But it’s really made me make the most of the summers here and the crisp days of autumn and winter – I love it!”

Goodmans specialises in creating financial plans tailored to suit their individual clients’ needs, based around enabling clients to realise their vision for retirement, comfortably and securely, without fear of releasing capital to achieve these goals.
